“Suppose you had some unidentifiable animal remains. How would you go about finding out what the animal ate?”
You can tell a lot about what an animal eats by looking at their jaw line and identifying their teeth. Their are two types of categories that the teeth fall into: heterodont and homodont. Hererodonts describe most mammals, including humans. The reason this is, is because the teeth of heterodonts are quite different from each other. Homodonts, on the other hand, have nothing but the same teeth. These describe a few mammals and mostly vertebrates. So, to answer the question, I would look at the animals jaw line. If the teeth were all the same, it would most likely be a homodont. If the teeth were all different, I’d know it was a Heterodonts.
