“What was Christendom?”
While it can be referred to as many things, Christendom (in this case) discusses the rise of power in the church. It was more of a big movement that let the whole world know how powerful the Catholic Church could be. It was also a time where the Catholic Christian dynamic trumped most other religions. By that I mean, it was more common. If a church was in trouble, many other churches would come to the rescue. Popes gained much respect and were also very powerful.
