Soil

“Someone says, “Soil is just dirt to hold the plant up.” Would you agree or disagree with this statement?”

I would disagree with the statement. Without the soil, the plant wouldn’t get as much nutrients and it certainly wouldn’t thrive. In the soil, the plants roots can grow freely. When you water the plant, the soil soaks it up and sends it to the correct areas in the plant. If you put a plant (let’s say a tree) on a piece of concrete, but watered it and gave it sunlight like you normally would, the tree would die. Without the soil, the tree cannot thrive. So no, I wouldn’t say that ‘soil is just dirt to hold the plant up’.
