Leo The Great

Today, I will tell you the story of Leo the Great. Leo 1, also known as Leo the Great, was an Italian priest of the Roman Catholic Church. We know nothing of his early life and very little of his work in the church. He is most famous for his encounter with Attila the Hun. The Huns were an army of ruthless men, who conquered and pillaged countless cities and kingdoms and Attila was their leader. While the Huns stood outside Rome, ready to conquer it, Pope Leo went out and spoke with Attila. Soon after the conversation, Attila and his Huns turned around and left. Some say that Angels or Prophets appeared behind Leo while he spoke, threatening Attila. While no one knows for sure what was said, Pope Leo was, from then on, known as Leo the Great.
