Every Great Story Has An Odd Beginning

Based on what you read in Acts, discuss Paul’s missionary journey.

Well, before he was Paul, his name was Saul. Saul hated the Christians and had an arrest warrant in their name. However, on a journey to a place called Damascus, Saul had a blinding vision with a voice saying, “Saul! Why are you out to get me?” He said, “Who are you?” And the voice responded “I am Jesus, the One you’re hunting down. I want you to get up and enter the city. Once there you’ll be told what to do next.” The people surrounding Saul didn’t know what was going on, for they had not seen or heard anything. But when Saul got up, he found that he was blind and had his people lead him to Damascus. Meanwhile, in Damascus, there was a disciple named Ananias. And the Lord spoke to Ananias in a vision saying, ” I blinded the man named Saul and told him you were coming to meet him, so go and heal him.” But Ananias replied,” What? Saul?! The guy who wants us all dead? No way!” The Lord said,”Don’t argue! I have big plans for him!” So Ananias went to Saul and healed him. And through that healing, God opened Sauls eyes to the truth. That the Christians were right in worshipping God and what they spoke was true! So Saul went around trying to tell others of this truth–however, it was proved difficult because everyone feared him. But through time and patience and the wonderous might of God’s mystery, Saul was turned to Paul and became one of the most important people in the Bible.
