Why did Tiberius Gracchus attract so much suspicion from the Roman Senate?
Tiberius Gracchus was suspicious in the Roman Senate’s eyes for the following reason. He broke many Roman laws and no one really did anything to stop him. His life took an unexpected turn at a gathering. He raised his hand to his forehead, signaling to his patrons that he thought his life was in danger. The Senate however, thought that he was requesting a crown. Enraged, the Senate went on a rampage, tearing the legs off of the benches they sat in, and using them to beat Tiberius to death.
